What is PMMVY?
From January 1, 2017, the Government of India would introduce the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, which is being implemented on provisions of Section 4, National Food Security Act 2013, which, besides providing monetary support for better health and nutritional level of mother and child, also offers compensation for losses borne by a mother.
What is PMMVY 2.0?
The PMMVY 2.0 Scheme gives incentives to the girl child by giving cash to a family who has their second birth as a girl. Under the scheme, the ₹6,000 amount was given one time to a family after the birth of its second daughter. That has been believed to be the reason for the improvement of Sex Ratio at Birth and even a reduction in cases of female feticide. In addition, if a beneficiary suffers a miscarriage or a stillbirth, they are entitled to benefits again in subsequent pregnancies.
