Budget 2024: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman provided data that over 1.28 crore registrations were done under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. 

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was launched by the Hon’ble PM of India Narendra Modi on 13th February 2024 to install PM Surya Ghar solar panels in 1 Cr houses of the country. • No member of the family should be working for the government
• The annual income of the family should be less  than Rs 1.5 lakh

How to Apply for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana?

Go through the following easy steps to register and apply online for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana:

• Visit the official website of the scheme pmsuryaghar.gov.in
• Click on the “Apply for Rooftop Solar”
• Enter your mobile number and get OTP
• Now select your state and district
• Select your Electricity Distribution Company and enter your Electricity Consumer number.
• Enter the Consumer’s Name and email.
• Now upload the Electricity Bill and the Photo of the rooftop/ other area where solar panels

• Type in the captcha code and hit submit
• Use your Consumer Number and Mobile number to log in
• Complete the necessary fields for applying rooftop solar
• get a plant built by one of the registered vendors in your DISCOM after obtaining feasibility approvals.
• After that register plant specifications and apply for a net meter
• Following installation of the net meter and inspection by DISCOM, you will receive a commissioning certificate
• Send through the portal your bank account details and a canceled cheque
• Now you will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days
