
The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a Union Government-sponsored key initiative that provides financial benefits to pregnant women and lactating mothers who are identified as socially and economically disadvantaged. Under the first phase of the scheme, Pregnant women get financial aid in 2 installments for the first childbirth. Moreover, Under the second phase of the scheme, PMMVY 2.0, women get cash assistance of Rs. 5000 in single installments for the birth of a second Girl Child. This scheme was effective from 1st Jan 2017 and initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. .

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Benefits-
Under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, women receive cash incentives for the birth of their first 2 children with the second child a girl.
- For the First childbirth, women get the cash amount of Rs. 5000 in 2 instalments.
- For the second child, women receive the monetary sum of Rs.6000 in one instalment, required second child is the Girl.
Things to Remember:
- In the case of second childbirth, women are required to register to get the benefits of PMMVY. This will help in addressing issues related to Sex Ratio at Birth, female foeticide, etc.
- Advantages will be provided through the Aadhar Card to prevent potential challenges related to duplication and others.
Required Conditions for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana :
First Child-
First Instalment – Rs. 1000/-
Conditions: After completing pregnancy registration, women should have a minimum of one antenatal checkup within 6 months periods from the last Menstrual date at officially recognized health centers or Anganwadi facilities.
Second Instalment: Rs. 2000/-
Conditions: Childbirth should be registered and until the age of 14 weeks, the child should have given all due vaccines as part of the Universal Immunization Programme, run by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Second Child-
Single Instalment: Rs. 6000/-
Conditions:
- After registering for pregnancy, women should have a minimum of one Antenatal checkup within 6 months periods from the last Menstrual date at officially recognized health centers or Anganwadi facilities.
- The girl childbirth should also be registered and until the age of 14 weeks, the Girl child should have provided all due vaccines as part of the Universal Immunization Programme, run by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Note: In the miscarriage/stillbirth condition, the beneficiary would be considered as a fresh beneficiary in the case of any future pregnancy.

Eligibility Criteria for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana-
Here is the Information related to the Eligibility Requirement for women to be applicable for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana:
- The minimum age of the applicant should be 19 Years.
- Applicant should be a Pregnant woman or lactating mother suffering Income loss owing to the Pregnant condition.
- Applicants are required to apply for the PMMVY scheme within 270 days after the child’s birth.
- In the case of twins triplets or quadruplets during the second pregnancy with the second girl child, women get cash support for raising a second child following the PMMVY 2.0 rules.
Criteria for “Socially and Economically Disadvantaged” Category-
- Scheduled castes and Scheduled tribes women
- Women with a Net family income is less than Rs. 8 Lakh per annum
- Pregnant and Lactating AWHs/ AWWs/ ASHAs
- Women carrying Ration Card under NFSA Act 2013.
- Kisan Samman Nidhi Women beneficiaries
- Women having MGNREGA Job Card
- Women, partially (40%) or fully disabled (Divyang Jan)
- BPL Ration Card holder women
- Beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
- Women having e-Shram card
- Any other category as directed by the Union Government

Women who pass the eligibility criteria can apply for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana conveniently by following the below-mentioned process:
- Firstly, go through the official website of the Ministry of Women and Child Development and tap on the “Citizen Login” option.
- Fill in the essential details such as Contact Number, Name, Address, etc., and click on the “Create account” Option.
- Now, on the website homepage, click on the “Login Tab” Option.
- Fill details such as User ID, Password, and Captcha code to start the application.
- After completing the login process, click on the “Data Entry” tab and select the “Beneficiary Registration” option.
- Then, on the “Beneficiary Registration Page”, Fill in personal information-related details.
- Now, Select the category for the application, the first or second child.
- After entering all relevant information, click on the “Submit” Option.
